Fine Arts & Antique Dealers Insurance Summary of Cover

  1. THE CONTENTS of your premises, stock, goods entrusted, fixtures, fittings, furniture, computer and all other equipment and accessories that you use in connection with your business are covered against physical loss or damage of whatsoever nature whilst at the premises. This can be extended to cover fairs, exhibitions and the premises of repairers, restorers and private and commercial clients premises together with auction rooms, your own residence and elsewhere in the world. Cover can also include transit/sendings risks anywhere in the world.


  2. BUSINESS INTERRUPTION loss of Trading Profit and Increase in Cost of Working following loss of or damage to stock or buildings which is subject to a claim.


  3. MONEY consisting of cash, coins, cheques and other securities can be covered against loss from any cause whilst in transit or at your premises subject to agreed limits.


  4. LEGAL LIABILITY TO EMPLOYEES for accidents arising in the course of their employment. Important Note : An employee not only includes any persons under a contract of service or apprenticeship but also the following persons:

    • any labour master or labour only sub-contractor or person supplied by any of them.
    • any self-employed person.
    • any person under a contract of service or apprenticeship with another employer and who is hired to or borrowed by you.
    • any person who is participating in any Government or otherwise authorised work experience training study exchange or similar scheme whilst engaged in working for you in connection with your Business. Cover is worldwide subject to the Employee being normally resident in the United Kingdom and to the United Kingdom Jurisdiction Clause.


  5. LEGAL LIABILITY TO MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC for personal injury or property damage accidentally caused by you in the operation of your business or as a result of goods supplied subject to UK Jurisdiction Clause. Cover excludes U.S.A and Canada but may be extended for an additional premium subject to the clause below. UNITED KINGDOM JURISDICTION CLAUSE The indemnity provided by the insurers shall apply only to judgements against the Insured in the Courts of Law of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands and not to judgements obtained elsewhere nor to judgements or orders obtained in the said courts for the enforcement of foreign judgements whether by way of reciprocal agreements or otherwise


  6. BODILY INJURY/PERSONAL ACCIDENT covering injury to principals or employees can be chosen for either cover restricted to injury following assault or on a full 24 hour basis.


  7. DEFECTIVE TITLE indemnity to protect you against loss resulting from goods purchased in the course of normal trading for which it subsequently is discovered that the vendor had no legal title.


  8. BUILDINGS you occupy can be covered against physical loss or damage of whatsoever nature including exterior glass. RENT can be insured in one of two ways. It can either be rent which you would have to continue to pay even though buildings which you lease have been destroyed or damaged or it could be rent which you would lose should buildings which you own and rent out be rendered uninhabitable.


  9. CHEQUES/CREDIT CARDS you can be covered against financial loss if you accept these in the normal course of trading which subsequently turn out to be forged or stolen.


  10. PROCESS COVER you can be covered against loss or damage to stock whilst being worked upon on your own premises.
